At PS Architecture Limited in Isleworth, West London, we are proud to be the Architects for domestic projects, in London and beyond the London area, that have been completed to our clients' lasting satisfaction. A significant proportion of our work stems from recommendations from previous clients to their friends or colleagues who are looking for architects for house extensions or for more major projects.
As can be seen from the images in the gallery below, we have the facility in-house to produce 3-dimensional views for our architectural commissions, where such imagery is useful to explain our design proposals to our clients and also to planning authorities. These images are particularly useful to assist with the preparation of feasibility studies for new developments, both small and medium scale.
We hope you will enjoy viewing the architectural projects shown below which are a selection from our records of completed projects, both within and beyond the London area, even as far afield as northern Europe.
A fresh, light and airy addition onto the rear of a pleasant Victorian terraced house in the heart of Ealing W5, creating an informal dining and sitting area off an open plan kitchen.
A concept sketch prepared for our client showing the proposal for the shopfront to a quality dry cleaning business on the Brompton Road in Knightsbridge and the photograph shows the attractive appearance of the finished product.
BROOKWOOD ROAD, SOUTHFIELDS
The conversion of a terraced property in Southfields from a shop on the ground floor with a flat above created a spacious single dwelling house. The property was extensively refurbished with the addition of an extension at the rear and a loft conversion at roof level to create a three bedroomed house with generous living rooms. The photographs of the rear extension show how the informal kitchen and dining area in the rear addition connects with the patio at the rear via wide bi-folding doors and the large roof lights bring brightness into the extension.
BURY RD PROJECT
Planning consent was obtained for a new five bedroomed house on a tree lined and secluded site in the prestigious area of Branksome Park near to the sandy beaches at Branksome Chine in the borough of Poole. The design for the house was inspired by the style of Frank Lloyd Wright incorporating clean horizontal lies and textural interplay between stone and smooth rendered surfaces. The images were prepared to assist the owner to visualise the proposal and to give the planning authority an understanding of the form and style of the development.
The photograph shows part of the refurbishment of a spacious three bedroomed apartment within a large Victorian property situated in Ealing W5. The refurbishment made extensive use of applied features including dado rails, skirtings and ceiling cornices to create an interior style in keeping with the period of the property.
An attractive two bedroomed apartment was created to replace the existing one bedroomed flat within this terraced property situated in Wandsworth through the addition of a mansard extension at roof level. A master bedroom with ensuite bath and shower room was created within the mansard extension and a spacious open plan kitchen and living room was created on the first floor of the apartment.
CHESTER ROAD, NORTHWOOD
This lovely detached house in Northwood had an existing rear extension but the extension contributed very little to the quality of the living accommodation on the ground floor. A new extension was therefore created to provide additional space so that the kitchen and rear sitting room could merge together and copious daylight was introduced through the large rooflights positioned in the gently sloping flat roof. The result was an informal living area merging with a new fitted kitchen and with uninterrupted views into the beautifully landscaped rear garden.
COLEBROOKE AVENUE, EALING
This spacious semi-detached house in a quiet road in Ealing W13 was extended to the side and rear to create a generously proportioned kitchen at the side and a garden room to the rear. The extensions were designed in a conservatory style with large areas of glazing within hardwood framework. The result was a light and airy informal living space with direct access to the garden at the rear.
EAST END ROAD, FINCHLEY
The owner of this large semi-detached house in Finchley had obtained planning consent for an extension that would provide accommodation for an elderly relative and needed an architectural practice to look after their interests during construction of the project. The design of the extension had been set during the planning stage and our input was to provide the construction details and administer the construction work, which resulted in a finished product that fully realised the client’s requirements.
FLANCHFORD ROAD, HAMMERSMITH
Flanchford Road is a quiet residential street in the area of Stamford Brook in the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. This spacious semi detached house had been previously extended at roof level but the owner needed additional living space on the ground floor and an en-suite bed sitting area at ground floor level for an elderly relative. The front sitting room was converted into a bed sitting room and the property was extended at the side at the rear to accommodate the ensuite for the bed sit and a large open plan kitchen, dining and informal sitting area was created within the rear extension. The form of the rear extension allowed the installation of glazing within its roof to bring daylight into the interior. The projecting bays at the rear provided access onto a decked patio leading onto the long existing garden at the rear.
FLINTSTONES, LITTLE RYBURGH
An old flint stone built cottage in rural Norfolk was carefully restored from a very poor condition and also extended to create a pleasant holiday home in a tranquil setting in the tiny hamlet of Little Ryburgh. The images show work in progress and the restored interior of the main sitting room.
GUNTERSTONE ROAD, HAMMERSMITH
This 5 storey terraced Victorian townhouse in West Kensington was radically refurbished from top to bottom and extended to create modern living and bedroom accommodation. The extensions at ground and lower ground floors provided informal living space opening out onto a patio garden at the rear. The extension on the ground floor opened onto a glazed terrace with steps leading down to the garden.
HILLERSDEN AVENUE, BARNES
The project in this terraced house in Barnes involved the enlargement of an existing loft conversion. The existing conversion had a cramped feeling internally and the brief was to alter the profile of the sloping roofs to a steeper pitch in order to create improved headroom with much more useable floor space within the bedrooms and bathroom. The end results were rooms with a much more spacious and airy feeling.
KAPELSTRAA, BREDA, NETHERLANDS
The town of Breda in the Netherlands was the location for this project where the owner of the existing house needed more bedroom and living accommodation. Design proposals were prepared to show the potential for increasing the size of the property before the project was handed over to a local architect. The images show the concept that was developed for extending the property.
